Features
One platform, from research to live execution.
Everything Period Trader does to find a strategy, prove it, run it and keep it inside your risk limits — shown with the real interface.
Try it
Run the backtester preview.
Pick a strategy and a market, then watch a research run, the results and a deployment — a simulation built from the real app.
Point it at a market and a timeframe. It works through the parameters, keeps what holds up and discards the rest.
- 01Parameter combinations are generated and backtested.
- 02Every result is scored for overfitting — most are discarded.
- 03Survivors are walked forward across three segments.
- 04What holds up can be deployed behind the risk guard.
Example only · Simulation using example data. Not a backtest result, and not a performance claim.
The problem
Most backtests lie.
This one grades them.
Any tool can show you a strategy with a perfect win rate. That usually means it memorised the past.
Period Trader is built to find the ones that do not survive — and to say so plainly, with the reason attached.
- Sized on your real account balance, not a number you typed in
- Priced with your broker’s actual spread and commission
- Rejected outright when a result fails validation
Research
Thousands of attempts.
Most get thrown away.
Point it at a market and a timeframe. It works through the parameters, keeps what holds up and discards the rest.
Validation
The part nobody else wants to show you
Not a switch you turn on. Every result passes through it before it can reach a live account.
Reality Score
An explicit PASS or FAIL on whether a result would survive live conditions — with the reasons written out.
Walk-forward split
Development, validation and stress. Perform only in the first segment and you are told it is overfitted.
Live-adjusted return
Every result is re-scored on real spread, commission and slippage. The gap to the flattering number is the point.
Why it matters
A strategy that only works on the data it was found in is not a strategy. It is a description of the past.
What is in it
Built for people who have been burned before
Multi-market
Forex, metals and indices through MetaTrader 5. Crypto perpetuals through Binance and Bybit. One console, one research pipeline.
No EA, no bridge
Connects through the official MetaTrader 5 Python API. Nothing to install inside MT5, no bridge process.
Real costs
Commission and slippage come from your broker’s settled deals and spread history, not from guessed constants.
Risk guard
An account-level circuit breaker. Breach your drawdown threshold and it locks execution and can flatten every position.
Your own strategies
Paste or upload Python, including converted Pine Script. It runs sandboxed and then behaves like any built-in strategy.
Strategy registry
Verified strategies sync automatically. Community strategies install on demand and are clearly flagged as unreviewed.
Full history
Equity curve, per-trade table, and CSV or JSON export on every backtest, kept for as long as you want it.
Adjustable load
Research power runs in AUTO, FULL or ECO with a disk budget cap, so it shares your machine instead of taking it.
How it works
Four steps, and a lot of rejection
Connect
Point it at your MetaTrader 5 terminal or an exchange. Backtesting works with nothing connected.
Research
Choose a market, timeframe and window. Let it work while you get on with your day.
Validate
Discard everything that fails the Reality Score, walk-forward and live-cost adjustment.
Go live
Deploy a survivor behind the risk guard. The kill switch stays armed.
Privacy
Your account never leaves your machine
Not a policy promise — an architectural fact. The software runs locally and talks to your own terminal.
Opt-in, off by default
Collective learning
Turn it on and the app shares anonymised strategy statistics — win rate, profit factor, drawdown, trade count. Nothing else.
It is off unless you enable it, and you can switch it off at any time without losing access to anything.
